Quality Systems Solutions
City of Industry, CA
- Installed and configured an Oracle Web Application Server 3.0.2.
Revised html to allow selection between production and development
- Configured and tuned Oracle 8.0.3 RDBMS. Enlarged RBS and created
seperate tablespaces for Index and Tables, and revised INITIAL and NEXT
based on projected storage utilization. Set initialization parameters
as appropriate. Also used replication
(snapshots) to keep development and production
reference tables in sync.
- Managed two HPUX 10.20 servers (K370 RDBMS server and
and D380 Web server); applied HPUX maint bundles, revised HPUX
Kernel parms, revised startup/shutdown process to automatically restart
database after reboot, created WWW monitor to restart the WWW server
if it crashed, created numerous shell scripts to run in the late hours
(using crontab facility to automatically run as scheduled times)
to do backups, migration of procedures to production, analyze tables and
indexes, and monitor performance and space utilization.
- Reviewed application components and made recommendations
to improve query efficiency, systems reliability,
error handling and logging,
or otherwise take into account system administration needs.
Created an SCCS source
management environment to control/monitor/review Pro*C programming.
Performed maintenance on Pro*C and PL/SQL code as needed to correct
observed or anticipated database management problems.
Value Health Sciences

- Migrated large scale C++/COBOL/SQL/IEF
medical claims database engine from MVS DB/2 CICS to UNIX Oracle
7. Tested prototype of software port on several hardware platforms;
recommended AIX solution, resulting in an immediate savings of
$100K+/month, with payback in less than a year.
Automated and delegated
most Quality Assurance tasks, and took on additional responsibilities
including Software Maintenance (bug fixes), Software Integration
(monitoring SCCS updates, generating release packages), and Database
Administrator (updating table definitions, analysis of performance
tuning issues), such that successful delivery with reduced staff
and cost was still achievable.

Software Test Analyst
- Certified high volume printing
systems as ready to deliver to local and international markets,
after completing a variety of intensive graphic and multinational
suites. Significantly increased European market penetration.
Administrated test lab environment,
including hardware, software and connectivity upgrades as necessary
to facilitate testing. Handled UNIX system administration and
S/390 Bus & Tag and 3270 controllers and cabling, resulting
in lower costs and faster turnarounds when attention in these
areas was needed.
Palos Verdes Peninsula, CA
- Developed training materials,
including Computer Based Training and online lab exercises.
training to Xerox printing systems analysts to improve their understanding
of the software component of complete printing systems solutions,
resulting in better recommendations and more satisfied customers.

Member Programming Staff
- Redesigned an MVS based
Advanced Function Printing interface to improve performance and
IBM compatibility, saving the company significant costs.
- Developed an ISPF user interface
for Xerox batch JCL printing software, improving the accessibility
of different fonts and paper sizes. This improved flexibility
resulted in increased multinational market penetration, and an
improved business relationship with Rank Xerox of Europe.
